Chapter 1: Into the Abyss
You are the guard of McTavish's traveling caravan, carving out a comfortable existence by taking odd jobs and protecting against the occasional Orc raider when a mysterious attack on the nearby town of Albrect compels you to lend your blade to the good townspeople.

The experience you gain during your adventure lets you learn powerful offensive feats like Slash, Shield Bash, and Berserk or advance in the healing arts to gain Health and Vitality Boosts. As you increase in level, you can upgrade your existing Feats or add new ones. The active combat feats feature graphically stunning on-screen special effects to help make your battles even more heart-pounding and exhilarating.
As you progress you can choose exactly how to improve your character's abilities. Hone your strength to become a real bruiser, become nimble and accurate by focusing on dexterity, increase intelligence to unlock more feats, or work on your constitution to better withstand the onslaught of the undead.

Pixel Mine Games has released the Chapter 2 update for their action RPG Underworlds [$2.99]. Chapter 2 adds more than 2.5x the content that was in the launch version of Underworlds. Pixel Mine's Underworlds [99¢ / Free] is a hack and slash RPG that I really found myself enjoying back in April when I originally reviewed it. Since then the game has seen a few updates which have added things like music, online leaderboards, and other tweaks but none have been anywhere near as substantial as the impending 1.2 release. Pixel Mine has just released the Lite version of their hack and slash RPG Underworlds [$0.99 / Lite]. We really enjoyed the game when it was first released and the game has since seen significant updates adding music and addressing several user concerns. Still at only $0.99, we highly recommend the full version if you have any interest in the genre. Pixel Mine's Bill Money also let us know that they are about to start beta testing a 1.2 update that contains "more than double" the content of the current version of the game. But one thing is true, the genre is not a dead one. The latest RPG to head through AppVee's watch is Underworlds. This hack-n-slash RPG provides all the potions, level-ups and questing. Best game on the itouch, brings back the memories of nonstop baldurs gate: dark alliance.(my all time favorite game ever) needs more levels and the guy should look different in different armor, but overall great game.

Great game, it's got an amazing amount of polish. I had no trouble with the controls, I use the touch (instead of dpad) to move and and fight. Took me several hours to play through on easy, and now I'm trying to get through on Normal difficulty. Much harder, and I had to be better about using my points from going up levels more strategically. This is no doubt the best RPG out for the iPhone. The new background music rocks.

Much better than I feared from some of the negative reviews. This plays a lot like Diablo. Very fun. Goes too quickly of course and I can't wait for updates. A Mage with ranged spells would be sweet or just some additional skills, more quests, dungeons, increased level cap, etc. It is a great start - For $3 I am happy.

I have to say: Underworlds rocks – it’s a "real" iPhone RPG! Like others have said, it reminds one a bit of Diablo, but still original. You really have to GET THIS GAME, definitely worth the price. The environment and graphics are top notch; super fun and addicting. I’m still working on getting a full play through on the hard setting. My favorite thing about this game is the loot button – since I love hoarding…. Being a lefty, I also like how I can play it with my left hand too which makes hacking and attacking more intuitive. Good job guys! Can’t wait to see what’s next.

This is a fun game to play, and easy to get in to. Non-player characters are helpful, and show up at appropriate times to guide you to the next part of the quest. Auto-saves happen frequently, so if you're bumped out of the game you won't lose too much - important on a mobile device! Despite an earlier review, I think there are two male and two female avatars - it's just that one female is in full armor, not a chain-mail bikini! This is a good value for the price.

I think so. This game is awesome!!!!!! It satisfies my Diablo fix while adding a new elements like hidden monsters and treasures - I'm always searching those old bone piles for free loot!!!! LOL!!

Some people said this game was going to be a Diablo clone, but it way more than that. This game takes the RPG and brings it right to my phone. I'm a couple of hours in and having a blast! Very polished and slick. First class!

I can't say enough good things about this game. I just finished it and I enjoyed every second of it! If you like D&D, Diablo, or any hack-and-slash, this game is for you. The developer has promised more content (additional chapters) and many tweaks as well. GET THIS GAME!!! In my opinion, this is THE BEST GAME AVAILABLE for the iPod touch\iPhone.

This is so polished and full of content! Worth every penny! Needs a few things though... A map maybe? D-pad needs some help... Armor class, weapon class all these item stats you need an ingame description of what each of all those stats do... And lastly how about health and vitality post-combat regen? Pots the only answer?

This game is very enjoyable. I like the turn based RPG style and character development reminisent to D&D. Though, the game is rather short, I hope that with OS 3.0 coming out we could purchase expansion packs. More character development would be great (magic, classes, etc.). I didn't mind paying the $4.99 at all.

All I can say is WOW! The polish on this game is excellent. The developers did a great pulling this one off. I love the onscreen controls, after the 3rd playthru (now working on hard level) it's like second nature. It is hands down the best RPG in iTunes. Good game so far - nice graphics and decent story and sounds. Gameplay is pretty standard for an action RPG. Interface is good enough - the d-pad doesn't seem 100% smooth in its responsiveness (I seem to get stuck once in a while), and I'm constantly worrying about accidentally hitting the potion buttons when I use it (though I don't think I have so far). Been playing on Normal diff. level, and it's a decent challenge so far after an hour.

This game is great! I'm a causal gamer so I appreciate the steps taken by the developers to make easy mode fun for someone who only has time to play while waiting to pick their kids up from school. I hope soon I’ll get enough time to conquer the harder modes because I haven’t been this excited about a game in a long time. I played Diablo back in the day and was jazzed to get a fix. LOVE IT.

I have been waiting the longest time to enjoy a proper RPG on the iphone. I am a avid gamer, and a long time lover of hack-n-slash/dungeon crawler RPG's. This game popped up on toucharcade as a prerelease review, and I have been following ever since. I purchased the game this morning, and played about an hour. My heart is still pounding with excitement.

Underworlds is a fun game with some depth to it, but probably not as deep as The Quest. It’s just not that type of game, but this will have a broader audience appeal than The Quest because it’s not overly complex at least for me. The controls are d-pad and touch, and they’re a little funky. Most of time I find I’m walking to places I didn’t intend to using the d-pad…it’s a little loose if that makes sense. You can touch where you want your warrior to go on the screen and your warrior will move there which I find easier. Beyond that, the game is enjoyable and graphics/animation are pretty smooth.
Now that is an RPG for your iPhone!

Really fun game! I like the different difficulty levels. Played it through on easy just now and enjoyed the heck out of it. People compare it to Diablo, but this game stands on its own. Just for grins I tried it on extreme difficulty, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet. I am now playing through on hard and it is quite challenging. The Ghoul Overlord keeps killing me. There is hours and hours of game play here. I look forward to future updates and sequels from these folks.

Ok, amazing game with a huge amount of polish, I have been playing for a while and I must say that it is as good as I hoped. There seems to be a good story, it has a smooth framerate, good varaiaty of enimies/weapons/armor/items. Only a couple things I would ask for. The four availiable faces are... not the prettiest, espically considering choosing any of these avatars will result in the same character model in game, a generic grey knight. While the sword clashing and enemy grunting sounds are great, it would be nice to have some background music. Even if it is just some light background melody, just something. The interface is super smooth, allowing easy access to everything. One more suggestion would be to get rid of the "loot" butten all together and make the action butten attack, talk, and loot. Amazing game that I look forward to spending time with, these are just some things to consider.

This is the first iPhone action game that I have ever really liked. It is easy to play. I like talking with the other character, and I like collecting gold. There is a little movie right in the middle of the game, too. Way cool. Can't wait to get out of that basement though. Yuck!
