Google announced a new feature this week that lists apps in mobile search results. When searching for an app by name from your iPhone (it works with Android too, naturally), the top result is a link to the app's home in the App Store. In addition to the link, you get information like rating, publisher and price. That's the idea, at least. I got limited results in my own testing. "Shazam Download" produced the expected result, but searching for Twitterrific didn't. I tried adding "download," "app," "iPhone," and other qualifiers to no avail. Likewise, searching "Bank of America App" worked, but variations on "Gowalla" did not. Google notes that "The mobile app results will only be returned when relevant, well-rated apps are found," but who knows what that actually means. This feature is limited to the USA for now, but Google promises that it's in the works for other countries. [Via

By Leanna Lofte, Thursday, May 20, 2010 | So you have an iPhone and you use Twitter, but with the plethora of Twitter applications available in the App Store (including one that just went official), which do you chose? TiPb is here to help with a Twitter app roundup! Now this is not your typical top 5 or top 10 must-have, best Twitter app list. This is about options and alternatives, and Ally, Leanna, and guest writer Alli Flowers have chosen the following 12 to review and help narrow your search: To see what we had to say, follow us after the break! Previously known as Tweetie, Twitter for iPhone [Free - iTunes link] is the official Twitter application from Twitter. It is full featured and easy to use. Swiping a tweet will get you reply options, and tapping the tweet will allow you to view attached photos or url’s. The

Nuove funzioni: Bug Fixati:

According to a statement made today by Twitter's co-founder Biz Stone, the company is interested in acquiring more companies to expand upon their current core set of features. At a news conference held in Tel Aviv, Stone was quoted as saying that acquisitions are "something we are definitely interested in. We made an acquisition last year that turned out to be an outstandingly good decision." The acquisition he's referring to is Twitter's purchase of Summize, a real-time search engine that has now become search.twitter.com. Since that original purchase in summer of 2008, Twitter has made no other moves or indications that they were interested in buying other companies, seemingly more focused on quashing bugs, acquiring funding and partnering with major search engines like Bing and Google. Meanwhile, the ecosystem of Twitter applications exploded, and now includes hundreds if not thousands of apps powered by or integrated with Twitter's service. But which

Today we ‘re continuing our new series here on Just Another iPhone Blog “ called ‘Desert Island Apps ‘. It ‘s based on a very long-running and brilliant BBC Radio show called ‘Desert Island Discs ‘. The premise of Desert Island Discs is simple and wonderful “ a guest is invited to choose the eight musical pieces (originally records) they would take with them if they were stranded on a desert island. In our case of course we ‘re not interested in our guests ‘ choice of music. What we want to know is which six iPhone apps they would take with them if stranded on an island. We ‘re leaving the playing field pretty wide open for them “ letting them assume they ‘ve got WiFi and full connectivity on their island. I ‘m very happy to have Marcus Hobbs -creator of one of my all-time favorite iPhone apps, SmackTalk

The Iconfactory was launched back in 1996 as a repository for icon packs as well as software for creating and using icons. Since then, they've been responsible for the creation of two great iPhone apps, Frenzic [$2.99], a fast-paced puzzle game and Twitteriffic [$3.99 / Free], one of the original premium Twitter clients available on the App Store. Their latest game, Ramp Champ [App Store] takes the arcade game of skee ball, shrinks it down to the iPhone screen, and applies the same thick layer of highly stylized graphical work seen in all the other Iconfactory products. Included in the initial release of Ramp Champ are four different virtual skee ball machines. Clown Town has a carnival theme, Breakwater Bay is underwater, Space Swarm tips its hat at Space Invaders, and The Icon Garden pays homage to Iconfactory's roots in icon design. Controls are simple and shares the same strangely compelling

I’m fickle, always switching allegiances to Twitter apps. I’ve been jumping between Tweetie and SimplyTweet for months. Between them, they meet all my tweeting needs. But, long before they existed, there was Twitterrific. It’s been installed on every one of my iPhones, but rarely used. That’s about to change. Made by Mac stalwart Iconfactory, Twitterrific is the grandfather of iPhone Twitter apps, launched in January 2007 when Twitter was still young, and winning plaudits for its beautiful UI. The latest update, version 2.1, is as gorgeous as ever. Preserving its beauty while squeezing in more features must’ve been painfully challenging, but somehow the dev team at Iconfactory managed to do it. 2.1 brings the usual stability and bug fixes you’d expect. To choose just one notable fix: the significant speed improvement in typing and deleting – on its own – makes this feel like an all-new application. But read on, there’s

The updated app packs tons of improvements, including: In addition to the features mentioned above, Twitterrific 2.1 also fixes several known bugs and is overall much faster now. Price remains the same and it’s 4 bucks ($3.99), and a free, lite version is also available. Here’s the AppStore link. Dusan has been using smartphones since their introduction and is now following the latest trends in the industry. The "convergence" is what he's most excited about, and writing about it is the next logical thing to do. He thinks that using a smartphone is what everyone who cares about their time should do. In addition to his interests in mobile phones, Dusan also loves to experiment with the latest web and mobile 2.0 services. The idea of accessing and managing your

Great!

Version: 1.1.1
Great release from Iconfactory. The only negative thing that could be said is that there is some lag in navigation.
only one feature missing i think
ryoshikorino
Version: 2.0.1
when mid-tweet, there's no way to @link to someone without typing their whole username, other apps i have seen store people you follow as a list of usernames like an address book so you can @reply by selecting their name, much easier than trying to remember usernames. i know it has the function to toggle a quick look at the feed, but as far as i can see i still have to manually type my @replies in (no i'm not talking about the @reply being the start of the tweet, that i understand the reply, but to put it med stream or multiple people in one tweet it becomes bothersome.)
Fix for Twitpocalypse bug waiting for Apple approval...
bytebug
Version: 2.0.1
Twitterrific 2.0.2 which fixes Twitpocalypse bug has been submitted to the App Store. We'll do what we can to speed approval. Please RT. Thx
Any way to see public posts
CelticJim
Version: 1.0
I like the app ok but I can only see my own posts. I want to be able to see the the public posts ....kinds like Twinkle.
I love my Twitterrific!
RunningKicksButt
Version: 1.0
Totally love it! Makes it so easy to Twitter on the go and to get updates from friends. Love the look. Easy to navigate. Thumbs up!!!!
Very nice
lightningfuzz
Version: 1.1
Works well, but it would be nice if there was a "search" function, and a filter by location would be good as well
Annoying
bminority
Version: 1.0
App just gets on my nerves needs a lot more work and a landscape keyboard mode. Also you can select an tweet and it always loads to that one which can get really annoying cause you always have to scroll up to see the latest tweets.
Best Twitter App

Version: 1.0
I am really excited to use this app. I have great affection for the desktop version and really - I just wanted to be the first to review this app in the iTunes App store. I have no doubt this award winning app will be great. If I only had the 2.0 software on my iPhone I would run it now.
Add search and you have a winner.
goobimama
Version: 1.1
Twitterrific, beyond a shadow of doubt, is the best among the current crop of Twitter clients on the iPhone. The only reason I gave it only four stars is because it does not have search and I really *really* want to be able to search Twitter without having to leave Twitterrific (and no, the built-in web browser doesn’t count). Add it, Craig, and you’ll have a winner. :)
It does what it needs to do.

Version: 1.0
I see no need for the upgrade version.
Interface is slow, excellent for posting
pb30
Version: 1.0
Interface (scrolling especially) is kind of slow and laggy. Excellent interface for posting, replying, and uploading pictures
Ok app
Melik
Version: 2.0
I've tried this and all the rest of the Twitted clients for the iPod touch/iPhone, and I've found Tweetie to be the best. Twitterific is very pretty but lacks in functionality and stability.
If you, however, prefer an absolutely free Twitted client, I recommend Twinkle by Tapulous. Much more functionality than Twitterific, free or premium version.
And to those who install this without knowing what Twitter is, learn before you give ratings. You're not gonna get a response: this isn't a forum.
Such as a previous poster: "There is no 'Mark as Read/Unread button". You obviously don't know what the app is for. Go waste your time elsewhere.
Overall, Twitterific is nice, but ranks low wihin all of the other diverse Twitter apps on the AppStore.
It's the little things
Beau Colburn
Version: 1.0
This is one of the apps I have most been waiting for and it doesn't disappoint. It works like a charm, and has beautiful and thoughtful design--that goes without saying. Here is one of my favorite things: when you are typing a tweet, as you get down in the single digits, the letter count changes color to alert you that you are almost out of space. It reminds me of one of my all-time favorite iPhone features: how the camera icon rotates on the camera when you switch to landscape mode. It's just a small, thoughtful detail. It doesn't improve how the app functions, but it shows care in fitting in with the whole feel of the phone and user experience. I absolutely love it. I'm sure I will be upgrading as soon as I upgrade the phone.
BEST FREE TWITTER APP!!! (3rd PLACE OVERALL)
bu11etpr00f
Version: 2.0.2
Along with Twitterrific, I have also purchased Tweetie, dark twitter (HAHA Twitter), & twitterena. And IMO, I think Tweetie wins 1st place! Tweetie not only lets you manage multiple accounts, but will also let you follow/unfollow/block.
No reply separation?
the Foolish Sage
Version: 1.1.1
This app falls below Twitterfon in several areas. For one, it has ads (twitterfon doesn't). More crucially, it has no way to display replies or DMs by themselves. If you have a lot of followers, that's essential. I have to think any reviewers saying this is the best free Twitter app haven't tried TwitterFon.
If you use Twitter...
小罗
Version: 1.0
You'll like this application. Negative strikes: there are a lot of dialog boxes - way too many in my opnion, and at times the UI is a bit slow. However, it still rocks!
Great!
Pickoff
Version: 1.0
Zero compaints here, and a big supporter of the Iconfactory. Great job guys!
Great app
sigre
Version: 1.0
Well designed and full-featured. Makes me want to post even more tweets!
A great start, excited to see where it goes.
Magnetism-Tyler
Version: 1.0
While not without it's stability and design flaws I can see Twitterriffic shaping up into a really fantastic app.
Impossible to use
SHWICK'S SHTICK
Version: 1.0
I can't move the cursor to the password field in version 1.0 so I can't login. This makes the app pretty wortless in my mind.
I <3 Twitterrific
mmoroca_usa
Version: 1.0
Thank you for your effort! I love that tiny blue tweety birdy... ;-)
Nice Interface. Limited Features. A Little Buggy
redherring79
Version: 2.0
Twitterrific's interface is very nice. It fits in pretty well with the overall look and feel of the iPhone/iPod. But the features are limited compared to some of the other Twitter apps out there (and here at the App Store). Not being able to see the Twitter world outside of your own makes it hard to use this app for exploring and expanding your Twitter experience. And it seems to be a little on the buggy side, having crashed several times since installation. It's worth keeping an eye on for future versions, though.
Addicted to Twitter? Then this is a must-have:
B. Musial
Version: 1.0
This app works just like it's desktop counterpart. Easy to setup/configure and it even has an option to optimize the input for those of us that are left-handed! Nicely done Iconfactory.
Great app
CrossWireStudio
Version: 1.0
Makes twitteding a breeze.
Good start. Needs more work.
Smoky Blue
Version: 1.0
This is a good start at a twitter client, but is still missing some of the functionality I've come to expect in an iPhone twitter client like Twinkle.
1. Can only view tweets of people you are following.
2. Can't view nearby tweets
3. Can't view public tweets
3. Can't view images attached to tweets in full-screen mode--it loads up the full twitter webpage instead.
