Recently Gameloft announced yet another upcoming title on their Facebook page. In the wake of N.O.V.A. [$4.99 / Lite / HD] and N.O.V.A. 2 [$6.99 / Lite / HD] comes N.O.V.A. - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance Elite. Aside from the following promo image, that's all we know right now. Now, even though Gameloft is being incredibly vague with details currently, we can likely make a few semi-safe assumptions here. First off, Gameloft never shows off games that aren't at least somewhat close to being released, so it seems unlikely that we'll be waiting that long for this game. Also, last month Gameloft announced that they will be using the Unreal Engine in the future. Given that the N.O.V.A. series is one of their more popular franchises, it seems reasonable that Elite might be one of the first Gameloft UE3 games. We'll just have to wait to find out! Hey guys, My

Posted 03/21/2011 at 8:14am | by Andrew Groen Gameloft has made a lot of money for themselves by - shall we say - taking inspiration from other classic video games. For a while most iOS gamers were willing to accept this for a variety of reasons. For one, "inspiration" and even outright copying has been around since the earliest days of video gaming. Many were also just thrilled to have near-copies of their favorite games on their iProducts. Gameloft's new MMO Order and Chaos may be too much for some gamers to stomach though. They've got a large back catalogue of clones already. Modern Combat [iTunes Link] is a thinly veiled copy of Modern Warfare, N.O.V.A. is very like Halo, the newly announced Starfront: Collision [iTunes Link] is like Starcraft, and Hero of Sparta [iTunes Link] is dead ringer for God of War. Given all of that history, and the amount

Zombie Infection [iTunes link] was created by Gameloft and is their version of Resident Evil for the iPhone. I’ve mentioned that I’m a Ninja fan, well I love Zombies as well. I picked up Zombie Infection during Gameloft’s Christmas Sale so I thought I would review it for you all. Resident Evil fans will recognize some similarities. You are in a world full of Zombies and must shoot your way through the levels. Along the way you will have to find keys to open doors or activate switches to continue forward and will occasionally be required to touch buttons in a certain order to avoid being attacked. In addition, there will also be weapons to pick up along the way such as a shotgun, machine gun, rocket launcher and other ammo… There are a few gruesome ways in which you can kill the zombies. Your gun will have a laser pointer

Sep 21st 2010 at 3:00PM They should consider putting more time an effort into script writing and voice acting. NOVA is cool, don't get me wrong, but the horrible story is constantly interrupting what is otherwise pretty good gameplay. Gameloft's titles are always well made? No way in heck. The most horrible, over-saturated textures possible, never an original idea, and the worst support in the world. I bought N.O.V.A. when it launched, and online multi-player has YET to be fixed. It always crashes when I click it. It has been like, a year? I can say, even though they are always delayed months and months, that EA does make better games. Heck, I've found many games even from small developers that trump anything from Gameloft. (If we forget about the iPad and it's amazingly useful display.) Gameloft's iPad games look good. And that's it. Gameloft also ports games over to Palm's

About a month ago, Gameloft's N.O.V.A. [$4.99/Lite/HD] received a nice update adding high resolution graphics and gyroscope aiming for players of their Halo-inspired first-person shooter with an iPhone 4. Today, their Call of Duty-inspired shooter Modern Combat: Sandstorm [$4.99/Lite/HD] gets the same treatment with its new update. Our impressions for this new update are pretty much the same that we had for the N.O.V.A. update last month, and what was once old feels relatively new again. The game looks as crisp as ever on the Retina Display, and gyroscopic aiming allows for much finer precision while leaving your hand free to mash away at the fire button. This new update isn't the only news out of Gameloft today, as they have also released a teaser trailer for the sequel to Modern Combat: Sandstorm which is so far only known as Modern Combat 2. The trailer is, well, interesting to say the

By Chris Hall on July 21st, 2010 NOVA has been updated for the iPhone 4. Gameloft’s great looking (and great playing) Halo clone, NOVA, has been recently updated for the iPhone 4. As you may have guessed, the graphics now fully support the wonderful retina display, but the meat of the update is in the control scheme. With the iPhone 4′s new “3-axis gyro”, NOVA can now be played with gyroscope accelerometer controls. You will still move around with the joystick, but precise aiming (or impaired aiming… depends on your skill level) can now be done with the accelerometer. Instead of old accelerometer controls though, this one moves 360 degrees and picks up even the slightest of movements. With the new control scheme, you will play better, but please don’t play in public. Check out the video below for Gameloft’s own description of the update. $4.99 Released: 2009-12-17 :: Category: Games

There are plenty of jaw-droppingly cool iPhone apps, and we’ve assembled a few of them here on JAiB today. These aren’t necessarily the apps you’ll use every day, and they might not even be your favourites, but each of these apps is almost certain to elicit a “whaaaaat, did you just do that on your iPhone?!” from anyone you show them to. Google Maps, Street view ($200 – well, I’m just referencing the price of your iPhone) Let’s start the list off nice and easy. This is something amazing that the iPhone can do by default, and I’ve used it a few times to remember the name of a restaurant I ate at, when all I knew was which street I was on. Street view on the Google Maps app is almost unreal in how easy it makes “walking” down a street from the comfort of your couch a reality. Bump

N.O.V.A. for iPhone looks and plays like a certain console classic. Will we ever see Halo for iPhone? Let me be the first to say: who cares? We've got N.O.V.A. Short for Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance (as if that matters), Gameloft's first-person shooter borrows heavily from the Halo playbook. You're the sometimes solo, sometimes squad-based hero out to save mankind from the alien threat du jour. The game's 13 single-player missions span five environments (from bunker to jungle to spacecraft), each one dripping in console-quality graphic goodness. An excellent tutorial acclimates you to the controls, which are always a challenge for any iPhone/iPod Touch shooter, but here are some of the best I've seen. Dip into the settings and you can choose from three control schemes or manually arrange the onscreen d-pad, fire button, and other controls exactly how you like them. Nice. If you like kicking alien butt, you'll love

When the App Store first launched on July 10th, 2008, very few people, myself included, realized the full potential of a reasonably open platform

Yes, Gameloft has released a FPS that very closely resembles Halo. N.O.V.A. or Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, that most anticipated shooter was finally released. If the Halo like plot and graphics don’t attract you, then the online multiplayer will. Presentation N.O.V.A. has AWESOME graphics compared to the current top FPS. You can clearly see how detailed they’ve made the environment, objects, guns, and the enemies. The music doesn’t compare so much though, it could have a better soundtrack. The story is as you would assume, your planet is in trouble so you’re called back to rescue humanity. You must go and kick some Xeno arse. Choice of weapon is all yours, I prefer the shotgun, but anything will do. The challenges, AI’s, and story don’t fall

NOVA is finally here. After months of constant hype from different journalists and rumors of an actual full-fledged shooter for the iPhone, Gameloft has finally released their mammoth shooter into the wild and let me tell you, it is awesome. Anyone who is familiar with Microsoft's Halo series will immediately see the crazy resemblances. This game was obviously created with it in mind. The game features an immersive single player campaign for players to fight through as well as a multiplayer that can be played both locally and online against up to 4 other players. The controls are handled like many shooters that have come out already. One joystick for moving, swipe on the screen to look, and tap the shoot button to shoot. Some of the controls did get a little dodgy like when I picked up a sniper rifle, it became a little to sensitive. Other than the control

Company: Gameloft S.A. Players: One-Four Price: $7 Compatible: iPod touch, iPhone/3G/3GS Editor-in-Chief, iLounge Published: Thursday, December 17, 2009 Category: Games - iPad, iPhone + iPod There was a sense prior to the release of Microsoft and Bungie's first-person shooter Halo that the companies had something special on their hands, and there's little doubt that the series helped the Xbox and Xbox 360 to become the success stories they are today. Gameloft's N.O.V.A. ($7) isn't quite so special -- it's a highly derivative game that liberally borrows in theme and execution from Bungie's bag of tricks, without ever quite rivaling or surpassing even the first Halo -- but by handheld game standards, it's powerful, impressive, and fun enough that Microsoft will no doubt be envious of what Gameloft has accomplished. At some point, the explanatory dialogue in the Halo games became overbearing, and though Gameloft has come up with a storyline, it

By Arron Hirst on December 17th, 2009 Gameloft debuts N.O.V.A (Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance), a graphically stunning Halo-esque clone for both the iPhone and iPod touch. After months of waiting for followers of the title, Gameloft have today announced the release of N.O.V.A Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance. Possibly one of the most anticipated App Store titles of the year, N.O.V.A Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance is a science fiction first person shooter set in futuristic environments. Graphically stunning, the game centers around man-made artificial satellites called near-orbitals, created to allow people to live on due to the Earth no-longer able to sustain life. For the protection of these separate near-orbitals they each came together to create N.O.V.A, or the Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance. A team of mercenary operatives tasked with the mission of fighting to defend mankind. Forced back into battle against your will, you play as Kal Wardin, a retired marine.

N.O.V.A, Gameloft’s new $7 first-person shooter, was released to the masses yesterday, and it’s looking pretty good. You play an armoured marine with regenerating shields who fights against quasi-reptilian alien soldiers with beam weapons, so I’d say the Halo inspiration is pretty clear. The game features a 13-level single player campaign with some surprisingly decent voice work, local and global multiplayer, and a good set of touch controls. The only strange thing about the game is how fuzzy the main menu looks – it’s almost difficult to read because it looks so out of focus, but heck if I’m going to take away any points for that. I’ve already played two titles that have captured the excitement of an FPS on the iPhone (Eliminate Pro and COD Zombies), but N.O.V.A is the first title I’ve seen with a really impressive looking campaign. I criticized Ace Combat XI for not properly adjusting

This game looks to be the ultimate FPS for the iPhone with an unrivaled multiplayer experience. I have only had time to quickly run through the tutorial level, but so far, so good; I am hooked. Few games have generated the amount of hype that Gameloft's N.O.V.A. - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance [App Store] has, and even fewer have managed to live up to that same hype. NOVA is one of those rare instances where a upcoming game is everything we wanted and more. It's not perfect, but there aren't many games to even compare it to on the platform. NOVA feels like a complete video game experience, something which is quite rare indeed on the landscape of bite sized games that make up the App Store. In Nova you play as Karl Wardin, an ex-space marine who has been reactivated to investigate some strange alien activity in a futuristic setting where the Earth has depleted its resources and no longer can sustain life, forcing humanity to live on nearby orbiting colonies. Admittedly, the plot isn't anything to write home about and the voice acting ranges from

The highly anticipated sci-fi action first person shooter N.O.V.A. - Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance [App Store] was released mere moments ago much to the excitement of forum members in the NOVA thread. With a single player campaign that reportedly takes around 8 hours to finish, four player online multiplayer, and online leaderboards tracking performance both in game and (apparently coming soon) on the NOVA web site, NOVA does not disappoint. We'll have a review out shortly, in the meantime, check out the thread in our forums, with posts regarding the American release starting here. Hey guys, My friend and I just released the game, Scramble Your Friends, for iOS! It is very similar to Words With Friends and Hanging With Friends. If only the online play would work! I have simiular problems with MC:S even after the bug fix update. Worst online play I have seen, disconnects every game and that's if you can get into a game!
If I am doing something wrong here please let me know. I have great wifi signal and am on a 3GS. (there is not trouble shooting or anything to indicate I am doing anything wrong, or that my Internet settings are messed up) Eliminate runs perfect why are all Gameloft games sucking in online play!
If you get the game for the campaign ten it is worth it otherwise wait to some fixes!

NOVA is the FPS that iPhone and iPod touch gamers have been waiting for. It runs smoothly on a 3G and for the first time gives the user the experience of playing HALO on their mobile device. Innovative control system for shooting makes this game a must for FPS junkies.
The only drawback is the lack of an inverse view joystick setting.
Jaw Dropping!! Best FPS app

I dont really know why you are still reading this review and havent bought the game yet... Believe me you will not regret it! Amazing job Gameloft! I would give it ten stars if I could. :)

I thought Eliminate was good. I thought Call of Duty Zombie was great. WRONG!!! Rich single player campaign and flawless multiplayer death match.... NOVA sets the bar REALLY REALLY high. This is a milestone game. This is an IMPORTANT game. Get it now.
Surprisingly price ($6.99) is good, too. Call of Duty Zombies... essentially a mini game with only 1 map is still $9.99. What a joke.
Amazing so far

The graphics are the best I've seen yet and the controls have no flaws either. I definitely prefer this to eliminate.
Sure it's a blatant halo clone, but that just makes it all the better!

Very impressive visually and very well implemented online multiplayer. However once the wow factor has passed one is left with shallow and repetitive gameplay.
EASILY the BEST game on the AppStore
Hotshot191
Version: 1.1.0
I want to reccomend this game to anyone who has a sense of adventure. This game has extremely easy and fluent controls, outstanding graphics (probably the best on the iPhone/iPod touch), voice acting, cutscenes, great gunplay and action, fairly good plot (mostly go here, kill this, hack that, hold off this point, then the why), and is very Entertaining and fun to play. I haven't seen very many glitches so far...the ones I have seen however, are very minor and I wouldn't say detract from the gameplay or experience of the game whatsoever.
Yes, this game is ripping of Halo...alot...but if I were bungee I'd take that ad a compliment, especially the way gameloft pulled it off on a platform such as the iPhone.
Playability:
I am running N.O.V.A. On my 1st gen iPod touch, and it doesn't have uncontrollable lag. This was a relief and surprise because games such as sandstorm modern combat lags horribly, and brothers in arms hour of heroes does too. N.O.V.A. Is more graphics intensive and yet it hardly lags. The game has a few things that annoy me, such as the sniping is way too easy due to the auto aim. If you're a sucky aim however, this will be a great feature for you ;)
The other thing that annoys me, is the dual analog control is horrible. The look. Crawls when the sensitivity is low, and skips and jumps when it's high. But the other two control schemes work perfect for me.
The auto look feature and ability to listen to your own music are awesome. If you're a bad shot with the sniper, just aim close to your target and shoot and it's a garanteed kill! Auto aim is also very helpful for the few times that the game lags (rememer i'm using the 1at gen touch so I doubt the 3rd gen phones and touch have any lag at all), and when you're overwhelmed with enemies. The ability to listen to your own music is easy to use, and a great feature of the game.
This game gets a 9/10 on playability, because gameloft really should do something about the dual analog issue...they made it work on sandstorm modern combat so I expected it should work well on their best title yet: NOVA
Story:
Like I said earlier, the story isn't anything special. It's just go here to destroy this, defend that, hack this, kill that, then the person giving you your instructions via headset tells you why.
9/10 on the story. I would give it a lower score, except This is an iPhone shooter, so I didn't expect alot on the story side. It gets the job done, and it's actually there, and that's all you can expect on an iPhone game right now. This is really the game's only con.
Multiplayer:
If you've played eliminate pro you'll be familiar with NOVA's miltiplayer experience. NOVA has great multiplayer, and even a voice chat feature (which I can't use due to the whole 1st gen thing...:/ )! The only difference is there's no customizeabity, and more open arenas. I would also have to say it's a little faster paced, and the guns are cooler, and there's no annoying energy cell payment. You buy the game and you get to play it online free of charge which made me extremely happy.
I've only played a few matches online (add me: hotshot191), and what I've seen so far is great!
Graphics:
One word for this games graphics: STUNNING.
better than avatar and yet less lag! Keep it up gameloft. The environments look great and believeable, lush, and not blocky. The textures look great, and I think NOVA might even have some anti aliasing. The character models ate great except the faces are a little flat and not very detailed like in any other iPhone game.
graphics get a 10/10
Gameloft really pushed the envelope on the graphics side of things on this game!
I don't think I've left anything out in this review, sorry if it was long, it's my first one.
Overall rating 10/10
Please, do yourself and gameloft a favor and get this game! It's not even 10 dollars, and is absolutely amazing. This is a must have for the iPhone and iPod touch fan! And is by far the best shooter and just game in general out on the platform right now!
Gameloft has mastered gaming on the iPhone and iPod touch, and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!!!!
Thanks gameloft, keep it up!!! :D
No Invert Y Axis?
TTSCOM
Version: 1.1.0
While the game is awesome for those who do not need the Y axis inverted, those who do will find it hard to comfortably control. We know which controls the developers play on.
I'm hoping for an update with a fix for this lacking feature.
Absolutely amazing!

Masterchief

This game is amazing. It's worth every penny. Multiplayer is way better than Eliminate. Best FPS in the app store. Make sure you crank up the sensitivity though. You can even customize the UI. Which means you can move the fire button, the d-pad, and anything else to your liking. Get this game you won't be dissapointed.
