**** MODES OF PLAY ****
The game features two play modes:
* Platforming - the player maneuvers the car from roadway to roadway, performing connecting stunts to reach the finish line.
* Time Trails - the player races around stunt-filled circuits to beat the lap records.
Each mode of play is packed full of level content, increasing in difficulty, through 25 Platforming levels and 11 Time Trail levels. There is enough content for long, lasting game play.
**** CONTROLLABILITY ****
The car handling has been designed from the ground up for the accelerometer. The controls are easy, precise and fun. So much so that the player can hug the edge of a corner, using a jet assisted power-slide, and still feel perfectly in control. The car also features mid-air flight controls, allowing the player to nudge the angle of flight and adjust speed with air-braking. It feels very natural to play and we believe it to be the best driving experience on the iPhone to date.
**** CONNECTIVITY ****

Besides Illusion Labs' Touchgrind [$4.99/HD] and a fairly solid port of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 [99¢], the skateboarding genre hasn't seen a whole lot of love on the App Store. Don't get me wrong, there have been some decent skateboarding games released, but nothing that ever felt like it gave you a full on experience like what you would be able to get on a home console. Jet Car Stunts [$1.99/Lite] developer True Axis is hoping to change that with there just-announced True Skate game which is heading to the App Store soon. Check out the first rendered artwork for True Skate below. There aren't a lot of details for True Skate just yet, but True Axis explains that the game is similar to Touchgrind but uses a pulled back perspective so you can actually see where you're going. I love Touchgrind a lot, but its strictly top-down perspective made

Long time readers of TouchArcade might remember the announcement of an iOS port of Space Tripper, a horizontal shoot 'em up from PomPom Games released for PC and Mac way back in 2001 and rereleased in HD as Astro Tripper in 2009. The port was to be handled by True Axis, the Australian developer of Jet Car Stunts [$1.99/Lite], and the project officially began in June of 2008, before the official iOS App Store had even launched. We first caught wind of Space Tripper coming to iOS in December of that year, with a planned release of "early 2009." Boy, how plans can change. True Axis was comprised of just two members, and as development on Jet Car Stunts hit its stride during 2009, it didn't leave a ton of time to work on Space Tripper, and progress on the title lagged. After Jet Car Stunts' release in November of 2009,

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and has been all my life. What's there not to love about an entire day revolving around eating massive amounts of turkey, stuffing, and all the other fixings? Sure, I could do without needing to feign interest in football, but thankfully tryptophan overload usually allows me to sleep through all of that. If you're looking for something to do this year while you do your best to either pretend to be interested in football or anxiously wait for the food to be done, there are a ton of sales on the App Store to consider. The basis of this post comes from SirAwesome's awesome thread in our new price drops, freebies, and deals forum. He put together an extremely exhaustive listing of everything that's on sale, and the thread is good to stop by just to make sure you're not missing anything that might

Jet Car Stunts [$1.99 / Free] by True Axis is without a doubt a favorite around here, and last week we posted about the recent update which not only added a DLC level pack, but also threw in a load of iOS 4 enhancements including antialiasing on newer devices as well as fast app switching support. True Axis had intended this update to also include Retina Display support, but a last minute bug prevented the game from running at the glorious 960x640 resolution. This was quickly fixed, and an updated version was submitted to the App Store which was just approved mere moments ago. Check out how awesome Jet Car Stunts looks on the iPhone 4: If you're an iPhone 4 owner with Jet Car Stunts, don't waste any time before mashing the update button in iTunes. The game looks fantastic on the Retina Display, and still runs at its sky

Late last week we reported that the new update to one of our favorite iPhone games, Jet Car Stunts, was in review and just waiting on Apple to give it the go ahead. Yesterday afternoon the update finally went live on the App Store, and as great as this news is for fans of the game, it also comes with some minor (temporary) disappointment. First let's start with the good news, and that of course is the addition of 26 brand new levels that can be purchased within the app for $1.99. I've given the new levels a quick spin and they seem to be of the same high quality design as the original levels, and possibly even more so. There's no shortage of crazy jumps, loops, and even driving on ceilings in these new levels. Another nice feature is that the 8 levels that were previously exclusive to the lite

By Chris Hall on July 9th, 2010 Jet Car Stunts gets even crazier with 26 new DLC levels. The Jet Car Stunts level library is about to get a bit of a boost once the new DLC level pack is approved by Apple. Added to the game are 26 platforming levels, all available through in-app purchase for $1.99. Also available by DLC, but for free this time, are the levels from the lite version of the game, just to add some extra goodies. The app is also getting an update that will optimize it for iOS4. It’ll get the customary retina display upgrade as well as full screen anti-aliasing on the 3G and 3GS. Don’t worry if you didn’t upgrade though, the game will fully support OS 3.x. Check out the video below of some of the new DLC levels if you want to know what you are getting yourself into…

If you're one of the lucky ones you managed to secure themselves an iPhone 4 today (or even the past two days if you're really lucky) you've no doubt marveled at how thin it is, how crisp the Retina Display is, and maybe you've even found someone else to do a FaceTime call with... but what about loading it up with some games? Since we haven't gotten our own iPhone 4's yet, we haven't really been able to put together a "games that are really awesome on the iPhone 4" listing, but I figured we'd start out by compiling a list of some of our favorite games in the App Store. If you think this looks a lot like our 2009 Buyer's Guide, that's because it does. However, we've updated the list with some of our recent favorites and kept some of the old ones. In the interest of space, we

Scouring the App Store for the best games is a full time job. Luckily, it's a job held by the guys over at Touch Arcade. Here are their picks for the best games—and only games—available on the iPhone. While the App Store had clearly been a huge success in 2008, the continued growth and explosion of iPhone game releases in 2009 was beyond everyone's expectations. The number of apps in the App Store soared past 100,000 with hundreds of new games being released every day. We sat down trying to figure out the best iPhone games of 2009 and found the task of narrowing down the list to a select few to be near impossible. Instead, we've organized our year in review into categories with what we feel is an excellent cross section of games from 2009. If you just got an iPhone or iPod Touch for Christmas, this list is

Around this time it’s common for game sites such as ours, to look back through the past year and highlight the best of the best games we’ve played. We have narrowed them down to the following categories and highlighted five of the best in each, and from that picked a winner and runner-up… So without further ado, here are our picks of 2009. iTunes connect was down over the Holiday weekend, and as soon as it was back up, tons of updates went through the system. Many apps were updated, but a few were major stand-outs that were worth updating the reviews. Others are updates to games we already gave the highest rating to. Also there were updates to games we haven’t reviewed. The updated reviews: The second most updated app in the App Store, Doodle Jump, got another one. With so many updates this is already an absolute must. This update brings a new Yetti boss that appears around 30,000, and you have to defeat it to advance upwards. Implode! was already updated again bringing the total number of level to 100. The new set of ten is nature themed. Now there are boulders and hills that change the fall of the structures. A solid update making this game even better. As weird

Our November game ratings are in place now, and here are the top of the heap. Our monthly "best of" round-up summarizes the top rated games that we looked at in the previous month. Each game reviewed receives a 1-5 star rating relative to the other games from that month. Generally, a 3 or higher is considered a "good" rating. Our final scores are not the product of any traditionally objective measures such as graphics or sound, but simply reflect the games we would most recommend to others. November was a great month for iPhone game releases, and our expanded list reflects that activity. November's "Best iPhone Games" are highlighted here: Jet Car Stunts - A remarkably fun jet car racer/platformer that had us coming back again and again due to its great controls, fresh visual style and mind boggling levels. Jet Car Stunts is a stunt game for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The game instead of focusing on racing or a realistic portrayal of cars, focuses on a stunt experience where the player must make it to the end of a track by completing a series of jumps and treacherous falls through different checkpoints. if any of you have played the game Rush 2049 for the Dreamcast and N64, this game feels almost exactly like it with it's crazy jets and attempt to gain control of your car while in the air. The game starts players off by having them complete a series of introduction levels that take you through the basics of the game. There is no official tutorial so you are left to figure out what each button does and learn how to best utilize them yourself. The game was actually decently hard which made for some really

True Axis' Jet Car Stunts [App Store] has been eagerly anticipated here at Touch Arcade, largely due to impressive previews of its stylish, uniquely crafted game world in which to soar around. Now that we have it in our hands, it is safe to say that our excitement for this game was not remiss: Jet Car Stunts has really set the bar high in both visual appeal and handling. As explained by the developers in our earlier interview, the clean-lined track design is created by a flat-shading of solid colors that really draw the eye to the engine’s pre-calculated lightmaps. Each of the tracks are set over detailed, eye-catching skymaps that act as contrasting backdrops- the effect culminating in one particular level with a breathtaking sunset casting shadows all over the race track. The developers have previously stated in our forums that as well as looking terrific, this design has allowed
