Adobe launches official PDF convertor for iPhone – CreatePDF
Mini_discussion_bubble IntoMobile - Posted Wed, 31 Aug 2011 10:39:45 UTC +00:00
Even though Apple refuses to include Flash support in its iOS-based devices, Adobe keeps investing in Apple’s mobile platform. Their latest iGig is CreatePDF, the iOS application that allows users to create PDF files with their iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads. According to the app’s official description, CreatePDF will make files that look exactly like the original using the same technology as Adobe Acrobat. Links, notes and bookmarks will automatically be created when PDF files are converted from Office documents; and transitions kept in place when the starting file is a PowerPoint presentation. As a matter of fact, CreatePDF can work with a number of file formats, including Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, StarOffice, RTF, text and Word Perfect documents; JPEG, BMP, PNG, GIF and TIFF images; as well as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign files. That’s all nice, but how much that costs? The answer is 10 bucks, which is kinda lot Read More

Adobe releases a PDF creator for iOS

Given the history between Adobe and Apple, this might be kind of surprising, but it happened anyway. Adobe has released an app for iPhone and iPad called CreatePDF that allows you to make and edit your own PDF files, right on iOS. The app can be used to open up any number of document formats, and then uses Adobe's own conversion services to assemble them however you want into a full PDF document. The app can open everything from Word documents and Excel spreadsheets to images and OpenOffice documents, and converted PDFs can be sent off as email attachments, or even sent to other apps on the iOS device. The app is available as a $9.99 universal download. It's good to see this kind of thing available -- it just means there's even more functionality for iOS in terms of not just viewing documents, but also building and creating them while Read More

Posted 08/29/2011 at 10:31am | by Adrian Hoppel Adobe released the CreatePDF app today for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is designed to open documents from a variety of formats and convert them into PDF files. It's not the first PDF conversion app, or the least expensive, but it is the first built by Adobe using the same technology as Adobe Acrobat. According to Adobe, CreatePDF produces high quality PDF files that preserve links, end notes, foot notes and creates bookmarks. The app also preserves transitions and converts multimedia content for Power Point files. Documents from email attachments or files stored in the cloud can be converted by opening them within the app. CreatePDF can currently handle Microsoft Office documents, Adobe (Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign) files, standard image files, text documents, and OpenOffice and Star Office documents. The app uses Adobe's online services to do the conversion, but does Read More
Adobe Launches PDF Creation Tool for iPad and iPhone

Adobe has launched an application for iOS that lets you create PDF files from an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. CreatePDF is not the first app to offer this functionality, but it is Adobe's first official crack at enabling PDF creation on iOS devices. The app lets you turn common document files like Microsoft Office, Open Office, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign and a variety of images into Adobe's propriety PDF format. The company promises document quality comparable to that produced by Acrobat for dekstops. The file conversion happens in the cloud using the same technology that powers the Web-based version of CreatePDF, which enables users to generate PDFs from their browser. We can see this feature being useful in a number of professional scenarios. Anytime a report, contract or other work-related document needs to be transmitted as a PDF, this app can do it without the need to be in front Read More

Bare Bones Useless, Are you Kidding Adobe?
markbyrn 1.0 stars Version: 1.0.2
So far, I have found one app that actually has an 'open in' link to the Adobe Create PDF, and that's Dropbox. One app that I thought for sure would have a link is FileApp as it presently provides an 'open in' link to a competing PDF creator called Save2PDF but no, it doesn't include Adobe Create PDF. Please provide a comprehensive list of apps that include the 'open in' link to Adobe Create PDF. What about converting web pages, Apple's Pages & Keynote, photos, and notes?? I did find that you could covert certain files such as a ppt file if it was open in the browser but you can't convert a web page. Sadly, the Save2PDF app by EuroSmartz is light years ahead of Adobe but let's hope Adobe can rise to the occasion and make some substantial improvements - otherwise I've flushed 10 bucks down the tubes.
Please fix the app!!!

Please fix the app!!! The Arial font looks great in a PDF, when it's converted from a Word doc., but it prints like garbage. Before the first update, the font printed great. Adobe doesn't seem to care about professional print quality (from their app).
Disappointed

Didn't appear to work stall with pptx files. How do I get my money back?
What?

It can create PDFs but it can not open them from an email? It got two stars only because it has a clean interface. It should be able to open PDFs I means the pages app can create PDFs from documents but also can not open PDFs.
